Plug in, tune up and play! Free guitar lessons are starting up with Selby Minner for the next ten weeks locally at the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library.

Classes are every Thursday from 4-6 p.m.

Minner will focus on beginners for the first hour and then intermediates afterwards but everyone is welcome to stay and play the entire time.

Guitars are available for check out from the library with a library card.

“I’ve been doing this for a lot of years and have learned a few things myself,” Minner said. “When I first started teaching students I tried to get them to learn more chords but now I keep it simple and teach one finger chords. This way it is fun and exciting when they can play “Rock Around The Clock” and other songs by the second or third week of class. There’s nothing like watching a kid pick up an instrument and learn music.”
