A great example of discipline occurred on Saturday in the Checotah Crossroads Classic Championship game when Muldrow head coach Terry Collins benched his own son in the first period between the Eufaula Ironheads and the Muldrow Bulldogs. He is an incredible basketball player with great skills and athleticism and more than likely will play at the next level. However, on Saturday fans saw an unbiased decision from a coach. It doesn’t matter who you are when discipline is needed you do it even if the coach is also the dad.
Coach Collins did the right thing and after several minutes talking to the player, he returned to the court and played well, helping his team win the championship.
As Hall of Fame coach Bobby Knight said,” There is not a better motivator than sitting a player on the bench.”
