Sooners finalizes three-year deal with OC Ben Arbuckle

The Oklahoma Board of Regents on Friday, during its January meeting in Oklahoma City, approved a three-year contract for Ben Arbuckle, who was hired Dec. 2 to take over the Sooners’ offense heading into the 2025 season. Arbuckle’s deal is worth an annual salary of $1.5 million and runs through Jan. 31, 2028.

It’s a notable raise for Arbuckle, who earned $745,000 in his first season at Washington State. According to the USA Today assistant coach salary database, he earned $693,750 with the Cougars this season — the lesser sum the result of his resigning before the end of the contract year with the program.

The salary for Arbuckle is also a bump in investment from Oklahoma, which last season paid Seth Littrell $1.1 million in the first year of his three-year contract as offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach. Littrell was fired after just seven regular-season games with his alma mater.
