It was a great season for area schools that competed in fall sports. This past week we had two football players in Carson Luna and Brian Love sign letters of intent to play college football.

Both Eufaula basketball teams made a deep run in the regional basketball tournament. The Lady Ironheads won the district championship. The Lady Wildcats defeated rival Eufaula three times this year for the first time in school history.

Wrestler Colt Collett of Checotah was a four time state qualifier and three-time state champion and Gabe Scarborough won the OKWA state championship in the heavyweight division.

The Stidham Redhawks won another state championship. All in all, I think that was a pretty great season for all area teams. Now it’s time to grab your bat and gloves, golf clubs and track shoes because spring sports starts this week.
