Jim Lucas Library News

Catch a lucky break at the library this March!

Patrons who have completed the Beanstack Winter Reading Challenge or blacked out one of our Library Bingo cards are in luck. Soon you will be rewarded for your reading efforts at our Winter Reading Bingo event at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 24.

While the local schools are out for spring break, we have activities planned to help keep the kids entertained. Swing by the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 17 or Wednesday, March 19 to pick up some come-and-go craft kits. Monday’s crafts will be St. Patty’s Daythemed, of course.

In lieu of our usual Storytime, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 18, we will host a special kids’ movie screening featuring a live-action movie with an animated main character that gets in a bit of trouble for his green thumb. Lucky for us, March at the library means more movies! Our monthly family movie night returns with a classic anime film at 6 p.m. on Monday, March 10.

Wrap up the work week at the library and try your luck during our Pot of Gold Fridays event. Every patron gets one prize drawing from the pot on Fridays, for each Friday in March.

As always, patrons can enjoy a variety of programs and activities that recur weekly or monthly.

We offer exercises classes for seniors, computer lessons, kids’ storytime, guitar lessons with Selby Minner, adult education classes, Pinterest Party craft nights, book club discussions, sensory-friendly hours and tabletop role-playing games. Occasionally, we like to check out a book or two as well!

Learn more about our services, events, and programs at the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library at eols.org/checotah or follow us on Facebook.

Heath Allen is the Library Assistant for the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library, a branch of the Eastern Oklahoma Library System. Contact Heath at hallen@eols.org.
