Rusty Rogers announces candidacy for Checotah City Council, Ward 3

Fourth generation Checotah resident and small business owner Rusty Rogers has officially announced his candidacy for the Checotah City Council, Ward 3. A 1986 graduate of Checotah High School, Rusty has spent more than 20 years building a successful business as a general contractor, specializing in custom home and commercial building construction. Now, he is ready to use his experience and dedication to quality craftsmanship to help build a stronger, more prosperous future for Checotah.

“As a business owner, contractor, and craftsman, I take great pride in the quality of work I provide to my customers,” Rogers said. “I understand the difference between cost and value, and I’ve always built things to last. If given the opportunity, I will take that same approach as a member of the city council.”

If elected, Rogers’ priorities will focus on:

• Increased transparency in city government, ensuring residents are informed and engaged

• Development of community and economic strategies to attract businesses and jobs

• Capital improvement planning to address infrastructure and facility needs

• A housing initiative to expand opportunities for homeownership and rental options

• Sound financial management practices to make responsible use of taxpayer dollars

With years of construction and project management experience, Rogers understands the importance of planning, budgeting and execution. He believes that a strong capital improvement strategy will not only enhance infrastructure but also improve quality of life for residents. By focusing on longterm solutions rather than quick fixes, he aims to make investments that will benefit Checotah for generations to come.

Rogers is committed to bringing a practical, hands-on approach to the City Council. He knows what it takes to balance budgets, manage large projects and deliver results—skills that are crucial for guiding Checotah’s future growth.

“I love this community and I want to see it thrive,” Rogers said. “Checotah is my home, and I believe it has incredible potential. With the right planning, leadership, and investment, we can build a stronger, more vibrant city.”

Residents of Ward 3 will have the chance to elect Rogers to the City Council in the April 1 municipal election. Stay connected with his campaign for more updates on his vision, priorities and plans for Checotah’s future.
