By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

Checotah freshman Traegan Duvall was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 at bats, as the Wildcats defeated Morris Eagles Varsity 14-0 on Friday to improve their record 2-7. Traegan Duvall singled in the third inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the third inning.

Checotah won in part by 10 runs in the third inning. Jim Rainbolt singled, scoring one run, Dalton Carter drew a walk, scoring one run, Mason Rainbolt singled, scoring two runs, Dallas Carter singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, Bryce Marshall grounded out, scoring one run, and Traegan Duvall singled, scoring two runs.

Checotah got on the board in the top of the second inning after Dalton Carter singled down the right field line. Morris committed an error, Mason Rainbolt doubled to center field and the Eagles committed another error, each scoring one run.

Mason Rainbolt began the game for Checotah on the mound. The hurler surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out seven and walking none. Martin stepped on the bump first for Morris. The starter allowed seven hits and nine runs (five earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking one. Ace Wilhite threw one inning of shutout ball for Checotah in relief. The reliever allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.

“I’m really proud of how we responded today against a good Morris team. The wind was a factor but our guys gave great effort at the plate. I thought we played well as a team. We had good pitching, hitting and catching. We limited errors and I’m glad to get out of here with a win. We’re going to enjoy this victory,” Checotah head coach Levi Walker said.

The Wildcats piled up 11 hits in the game. Mason Rainbolt led Checotah with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Dallas Carter and Dalton Carter each collected multiple hits for Checotah Wildcats Varsity 2025. Checotah Wildcats Varsity 2025 didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kross Stauffer had the most chances in the field with nine.
