Ironheads shut out Haskell 10-0

The Eufaula Ironheads (33) defeated the Haskell Haymakers 10-0 on Thursday thanks in part to seven runs in the fourth inning. Dawson Hughes singled, scoring one run, Hayden Robinson singled, scoring one run, JP Hicks doubled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Kace Bell singled, scoring one run, and Richie Beaver singled, scoring two runs.

“Our guys have been working hard and it’s beginning to pay off for us. This is a talented team and we’re still trying to put the pieces together in the right places. This was a big win for us and I’m very proud of how we played today,” Eufaula head coach Josh Luna said.

The Ironheads got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after JP Hicks singled, scoring two runs, and Jax Williams hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Hicks earned the win for Eufaula. The pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Brady Neal took the loss for Haskell Haymakers. The left-handed pitcher went three and twothirds innings, allowing 10 runs (four earned) on 10 hits, striking out three The Ironheads collected 10 hits in the game. JP Hicks provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Eufaula with three runs batted in. Hicks went 2-for-3 on the day. JP Hicks, Dawson Hughes, Kace Bell, Hayden Robinson, and Richie Beaver each collected two hits for Eufaula.

Brady Neal and Brody Grider each collected one hit for Haskell Varsity Haymakers.

Dawson Hughes collected three hits in three at bats, as the Eufaula Ironheads defeated the Fort Gibson Tigers 9-1 on Tuesday. Dawson Hughes singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

The Ironheads got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after JP Hicks hit a sacrifice fly, and the Tigers committed an error, each scoring one run. A single by Hayden Robinson extended the Ironheads’ lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning.

Hayden Robinson earned the win for Eufaula. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Chase Meisner took the loss for Fort Gibson. The reliever went one-third of an inning, giving up two runs on zero hits, striking out none and walking two.

Brody Abbott stepped on the hill first for Fort Gibson. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and five runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking three. Dawson Hughes pitched three innings of no-run ball for Eufaula in relief. The righty allowed two hits, striking out four and walking two.

Eufaula amassed 11 hits in the game. Luke Hodgins and Dawson Hughes each collected three hits for the Ironheads. Luke Hodgins, JP Hicks, and Hayden Robinson each drove in two runs for Eufaula. Robinson led Eufaula with two walks. Hughes and Robinson each stole multiple bases for Eufaula. The Ironheads stole 10 bases in the game.

Ethan Reese led the Fort Gibson Varsity Tigers with two hits in three at bats. Ethan Reese stole two bases.

Eufaula topped Fort Gibson 6-3 in Monday’s baseball action.
