Sooners make cut for NCAA tournament

Sooners make cut for NCAA tournament

For the first time in four years, the Oklahoma Sooners’ (20-13) basketball team has made the cut to the NCAA basketball tournament under head coach Porter Moser.

It’s not going to be easy for the No. 9th seed OU and Moser as they take on the UConn (21-10) in the round of 64 teams to open the NCAA Tournament on Friday in Raleigh, N.C.

Prior to his arrival, OU had made seven tournament appearances in nine seasons. OU is 3-1 in its last four games with its only loss coming by one point to Kentucky in the second round of the SEC Tournament.

OU has won four of its last seven games, with the three losses coming by a total of five points. Oklahoma will make its 34th NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2021. A win by Moser could stop the rumors of firing him at season’s end.

If Oklahoma fired Moser without cause, the buyout would be approximately $7.65 million, which represents 75% of his remaining salary, payable pro-rata monthly through June 30, 2028.

1-2-3 break.
