Green goes off as Lady Ironheads smash Vian, 10-3
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

Freshman Leah Green was unstoppable. The Eufaula Lady Ironheads star turned the field into her personal highlight reel Thursday night, blasting a home run, ripping a triple, and capping off a perfect night at the plate with a single as Eufaula rolled past Vian Wolverines, 10-3.

Green wasted no time making her presence known. After Vian jumped out to a 2-0 lead on a two-run homer by Kala Gibbins in the top of the first, the Lady Ironheads answered with authority Senior Kate Pippenger sparked the fire with a single, Danielle Rollins followed with a fielders choice RBI, and Hannah Beaver smashed a double to center. Just like that, it was 3-2, Eufaula.

Then came the Green light special in the second inning.

Leah Green launched a moon shot to center field, clearing the fence and the bases with a thunderous threerun homer that brought the dugout and the fans to their feet. Eufaula never looked back.

The hits just kept coming. Green tripled in the fourth, singled in the sixth, and finished with three RBIs and three extra-base hits in a flawless performance. And she wasn’t alone.

Hannah Beaver got in on the action with a solo home run of her own in the fifth inning, while Pippenger contin- ued to rake, matching Green with three hits and three RBIs. Abby Box also delivered at the plate, helping Eufaula pile up 14 total hits on the day.

On the mound, Makayla Harjo was cool under pressure. She battled through seven full innings, scattering nine hits and allowing three runs, all while walking just one. No strikeouts, no problem. She let her defense shine, and they delivered.

The Lady Ironheads were flawless in the field, playing clean softball with zero errors. Pippenger was a defensive anchor, handling five chances with ease.

Vian’s Rayleigh Terrill tried to rally her squad with a solo shot in the sixth, but it was too little, too late. Terrill also took the loss in the circle, surrendering 10 runs (nine earned) on 14 hits across six innings.

Aubree Craighead and Eden Girty chipped in two hits apiece for Vian, and Gibbins led the way with two RBIs from her first-inning homer.

But this night belonged to Eufaula as the Lady Ironheads turned in a statement win with power, precision, and pure hustle.
