About 1,300 McIntosh County voters cast their ballots in the April 1 special election.

In Eufaula, 63 percent of the local voters approved a proposal that will allow major construction projects in the school district to move forward.

The vote was 564 yes to 327 no (63.3 percent to 36.7 percent).

Eufaulans also elected a school board member. Ward 2 Councilman Roger Barton, the incumbent, defeated challenger Beverly Ann Rebaudo, 244 to 57 (81.96 percent to 18.04 percent).

Checotah voters elected a school board member and members of the city council.

Checotah School District Seat 5 incumbent Christie Bobo defeated challenger Mickey Medley 691 (69.94 percent) to 241 (30.06 percent).

Rusty Beaver won the Ward 1 City Council race with 165 votes (39.5 percent). The closest candidate was Sherry Spears, who received 154 votes (36.93 percent). In Checotah’s municipal elections, the candidate with the majority of votes is the winner, so Beaver won by 11 votes over Spears.

In Ward 2, incumbent Tony Fields came out on top with 213 votes (50.84 percent) to Anthony Robb’s 206 (49.18 percent). Another very close race with only 7 votes separating the two.

In Ward 3, Rusty Rogers won with 294 votes (71.36 percent) to challenger Nick Quinton’s 118 (28.64 percent).

Countywide, Republican voters agreed with the majority of voters in State Senate District 8, choosing preacher Bryan Logan, of Paden, over retired military veteran David Nelson, of Morris.

Logan will face Democrat Nathan Brewer, of Henryetta, and Independent Steve Sanford, also of Henryetta, in the May 13 special run-off election.

They are vying to fill the seat left vacant by the resignation of Sen. Roger Thompson, ROkemah, in November.

State Senate District 9 includes all of Mc-Intosh, Okmulgee and Okfuskee counties and portions of Creek and Muskogee counties.

Districtwide, Logan received 2,892 votes to Nelson’s 2,313.

In McIntosh County, Logan received 763 voters (58.92 percent) to Nelson’s 532 (41.08 percent).

In the race for Office No. 5 in the Indian Capital Tech Center District 4, Ginger Knight defeated Andrew Theodore 780 to 249 (75.8 percent to 24.2 percent).
