Checotah Wildcats dominate Warner Eagles behind explosive first inning and lockdown pitching
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Wildcats (10-16) came out swinging and never looked back, cruising past the Warner Eagles with a commanding 10-2 victory on Wednesday to extend their win streak to six games.

Checotah wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard, plating multiple runs in the bottom of the first. A passed ball got things started before Bryce Marshall ripped a double down the left field line. The Wildcats added another run on a defensive miscue then Traegan Duvall drove in one more with a solid single to center, giving Checotah a quick and confident lead.

On the mound, Camden Ferguson set the tone early. The starter went 4.1 innings, scattering five hits and allowing just two unearned runs while striking out two and walking only one. Dalton Carter came in and shut the door, tossing 1.2 innings of hitless relief while striking out four straight batters in a lights-out performance.

At the plate, the Wildcats racked up 10 hits. Bryce Marshall and Charles Collins each tallied two hits and two RBIs, forming a lethal combo in the middle of the lineup. Cale Thompson also chipped in with a pair of hits, while Memphis Swimmer drove in a run, going 1-for-3.

The Checotah defense stayed sharp, turning one double play and keeping the Warner offense in check throughout the game.

For the Eagles, Austin Spradlin showed flashes on the mound with eight strikeouts across five innings and added two hits at the plate, going 2-for-3 in a strong individual effort.

Checotah’s balanced attack featuring timely hits, aggressive base running and solid pitching proved too much for Warner as the Wildcats continued their dominant run.

Wildcats Claw Past Tigers in Commanding 9-1 Win The Checotah Wildcats wasted no time setting the tone and never let up, clawing their way to a dominant 9-1 victory over the Fort Gibson Tigers on Tuesday at Carr O’Dell Park.

Checotah (8-13, 4-8 District 4A-6) came out swinging in the first inning, scoring three quick runs to seize control. After Dallas Carter and Cale Thompson drew walks, Bryce Marshall stepped up and smashed a double to center field, plating both runners for an early 2-0 lead. Moments later, Mason Rainbolt laced a two-out RBI single to bring Marshall home and cap off the inning with a 3-0 advantage.

The Wildcats added to their lead in the third in thrilling fashion when Charles Collins stole home during a double steal, showcasing Checotah’s aggressive baserunning and pushing the score to 4-0.

In the fifth, Collins again made his presence known, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Treagan DuVall to make it 5-0.

The offense erupted again in the sixth. Collins drove in Camden Ferguson with an RBI single before Ferguson flipped the script, crushing a two-run triple to bring home Marshall and Collins. Rainbolt later scored on a passed ball to cap off the Wildcats’ scoring at nine.

On the mound, Rainbolt was electric. The right-hander allowed just two hits across a complete-game gem, striking out nine Tigers without issuing a single walk.
