2025 McIntosh County Democrat Checotah Players of the Year
By Rodney Haltom sports EDITOR

The Checotah Wildcats finished a hard-fought season with a 2-20 record under second-year head coach Malcolm Warrior. The Wildcats played in one of the toughest divisions in high school and competed at a high level. Checotah was led by a great group of seniors in Tyler Orman, Tyler Corn, Aum Patel, Dylan Robinson and RJ Womack.

Each played key roles on offense and defense. Some bright spots were made by several underclassmen like Taegan Duvall, Cooper Culbreath, Cole Rolland, Wes Brown, Hudson Pollard, Rowan Chapman and others. The bench was loaded with talent with most players returning for the 2025-26 season.

It is with great honor that we announce the following athletes as the 2025 McIntosh County Democrat (MCD) Checotah Players of the Year.

The 2025 MCD Most Valuable Player is Tyler Orman. Orman is explosive on offense and forced many turnovers on defense. He has a great jump shot and is not afraid to drive into the paint and shoot the ball. He led the team with 182 points scored, 50% free throw shooter, 12% from the three-point arch and 39% from the field.

His ability to make fast breaks and score in transition was monumental for Checotah. Orman finished with 86 defensive rebounds, 20 offensive rebounds and 43 steals.

The 2025 MCD Defensive Player of the Year is R.J. Womack.

Womack was one of the most physical and strongest players on the team. He matched up with each opponent’s big men and was successful in guarding them. Womack made 22 steals, 20 deflections and eight blocked shots.

He had 38 defensive rebounds, 31 offensive rebounds and was unselfish with the basketball finishing with 13 assists. He led the team in free throws shooting 73%, 22% from the three-point arch and 44% from the field.

The 2025 MCD Offensive Player of the Year is Rowan Chapman.

Rowan was a force in the paint offensively for the Wildcats and was strong enough to grab offensive rebounds. His skill was not just in the paint but also from the arch to. Chapman shot 48% from the field, 36% from the three-point arch, 65% from the free throw line and scored 147 points while playing 402 minutes. Chapman also could contribute on defense as he finished with 22 deflections, 20 steals and 10 blocked shots. He made 38 defensive rebounds and 66 offensive rebounds with 22 assists.
