Community invited to Memorial Day Service at Greenlawn Cemetery

Honoring All Veterans Friday, May 23 at 5 p.m. Veterans Park in Checotah Free Hotdog & Hamburgers

Games and Fellowship Compliments of the McIntosh County DAV

The DAV Chapter 3 Mc-Intosh County will host a Memorial Day Service on Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Checotah’s Greenlawn Cemetery. USMC Veteran and Chaplain Don Nichols with the Military Order of Purple Heart Chapter 617 will be the guest speaker. The Checotah FFA and band members of the Class of Checotah will also be part of the memorial service to honor those veterans who gave their all.

The Lake Eufaula VFW Auxiliary Post 8798 will also be placing flags and crosses on the graves of veterans that same day. The Auxiliary made 846 crosses to be placed on each grave and the American flag will be displayed with each cross.

The community is encouraged to be a part of this memorable service to honor those who fought for the freedom America has today.
