Olivia Shackelford serves as page to Rep. Tim Turner

Olivia Shackelford serves as page to Rep. Tim Turner

On a much brighter note, I had a page serve in my House office this week.

Olivia Shackelford is a junior at Oktaha High School. Her parents are Ray Fells and Lori Powell-Fells. The family lives in Eufaula. Olivia is ranked No. 1 in her class with a 4.57 grade point average. She’s the winner of a Wichita Mountain Youth Prevention Award, a member of the National and Oklahoma Honor Societies, Student Council and Spanish Club. She serves on the Youth Action for Health Leadership Team. She’s also a volunteer of Paws N Claws, a group of volunteers working with the City of Eufaula to find pound dogs homes so they are not put down and a cofounder of PNC Community Pets, Eufaula, OK, a resource page used to post lost animals and rehome others in the local community. Olivia hopes to attend college to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist or a veterinarian.

I love Olivia’s heart to help others in her community. She’s obviously a very smart young woman with a bright future ahead of her. I wish her the very best.

When pages serve in the House, they get to shadow their legislator, attending meetings and sessions in the House chamber. They also get to take part in their own mock legislative session. It’s always great to attend these sessions as the youth really come up with some great ideas for legislation, and they have some passionate debates.

On a final note, I am honored to say I will be serving as the Representative for District 15 for another two years as no one filed to run against me in this year’s election. This is a privilege I do not take lightly. Thank you to everyone who has placed their confidence in me. My family and I are proud to have this opportunity. If I can help you in my capacity as your representative, please do not hesitate to contact me at the Capitol. My office phone is (405) 557-7375, and my email is tim.turner@okhouse. gov.
