Checotah, Eufaula to celebrate student-athletes at May 11 Sports banquets
Two of McIntosh County’s proudest athletic programs will take time to celebrate a year of hard work, growth and achievement as Checotah and Eufaula host their annual sports banquets on Sunday, May 11, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and festivities beginning at 6 p.m.
For both schools, the night is about more than awards. It’s a chance for athletes, coaches, families and the community to come together and reflect on seasons filled with big wins, tough losses, and unforgettable moments.
At Checotah High School, the Wildcats will honor athletes across all sports, recognizing standout performances, leadership and dedication. From the hardwood to the diamond, Checotah athletes delivered a memorable year, including deep postseason runs and a “storybook season” that brought pride to the entire community. Coaches are expected to present team awards, along with special recognitions for seniors who have left their mark on the program.
Just a few miles away, Eufaula High School will host its own celebration of the Ironheads’ athletic success. Eufaula teams made noise throughout the year across multiple sports, showcasing grit, talent and a strong sense of school pride. The banquet will highlight individual achievements, team accomplishments and the contributions of student-athletes who balanced competition with academics and community involvement.
For seniors, the evening carries extra meaning. It marks the closing chapter of their high school athletic careers, a final gathering in school colors before moving on to new opportunities. For underclassmen, it serves as motivation and a reminder of the standards set by those who came before them.
Community members are encouraged to attend and support the athletes who have represented Checotah and Eufaula throughout the year.
As the doors open at 5 p.m. on May 11, one thing is certain, it will be an evening filled with pride, gratitude and celebration of two communities that continue to rally behind their teams.
