When the moment demanded perfection, No. 1/1 Oklahoma delivered like champions.
With everything on the line Saturday, the Sooners (48-7, 20-4 SEC) swept No. 12/14 Texas A&M, 4-3 and 6-4, in a pressurepacked doubleheader to clinch their second straight SEC Regular Season Championship— and they did it with flair, fight and just enough late-game drama to leave no doubt.
Game 1: Sooners hold the line, then strike
Oklahoma weathered an early storm, stranding four Aggie runners in the opening innings as Miali Guachino dealt in the circle and Abby Dayton laid out for a momentum-saving diving grab.
Then came the breakthrough.
In the fourth, the Sooners flipped the switch. Ella Parker sparked the rally, and Kasidi Pickering delivered the clutch knock, oping a two-strike single to put OU on the board. Dayton followed with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt, and Lexi McDaniel added insurance with a pinch-hit RBI laser up the middle. Just like that, it was 3-0 Sooners.
Texas A&M answered with a jolt in the fifth, powered by Kennedy Powell’s rare long ball and a solo shot from Tallen Edwards, tying the game and raising the tension inside Davis Diamond.
But champions respond.
Kai Minor came through in the sixth with a go-ahead RBI triple that hugged the right-field line, putting OU back on top. From there, it was all about nerve.
With the tying run looming, Audrey Lowry slammed the door— striking out Powell in a clutch moment before surviving a chaotic final frame that included multiple reviews. The final out came fittingly in the hands of Barker, sealing a gritty 4-3 win.
Game 2: Power surge seals the deal
If Game 1 was about resilience, Game 2 was about dominance.
Kai Minor wasted no time, launching a leadoff home run to set the tone. Moments later, Pickering delivered the knockout punch, a towering three-run blast that barely cleared the right-field wall but sent a loud message.
4-0, Sooners. And they weren’t done.
Sydney Berzon was nearly untouchable through five innings, allowing just two hits and keeping the Aggies off balance. Minor added another RBI, and Parker crushed a solo homer to push the lead to 6-0.
But Texas A&M had one last push.
The Aggies erupted in the seventh, highlighted by a three-run homer from Paislie Allen, suddenly making it a tworun game and shifting the pressure back to OU.
Enter Lowry. Again. With the tying run looming, Lowry calmly induced a groundout and a fly ball to end it, earning the save and slamming the door on the Aggies’ comeback hopes.
Championship mindset From clutch bunts to towering home runs, from diving catches to ice-cold pitching in the biggest moments, Oklahoma showed exactly why it sits atop the softball world.
Now, the Sooners turn their attention to postseason play as the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament, where they’ll face the winner of LSU and Georgia in the quarterfinals Thursday in Lexington, Kentucky.
